Wonderful, a man who has spent 35 years living outside Canada in the United States and the U.K., now wants to run our country... Ignatieff has caused the loonie to drop thanks to his announcement that he will bring forward a non-confidence motion on sept.14 when parliament resumes, to bring down the government. Now enter Gulles Duseppe (pardon me if I spelled it wrong, but not really) who aims to attack them both! He sees two parties that see only the interests of the rest of Canada, and not Quebec. Finally, the snake sheds his skin...
Not only is it a bunch of B.s. that a group that wants a separate Quebec to have a federal party, and yet wants to run the country they want to separate from, but now Duseppe aims to put the entire group of parties into an all-out war with each other, just when the canadian economy is coming around....
I'm disgusted...
This country really sucks. We have a group of power hungry idiots trying to run the country, who have little idea of what goes on, the middle class and poor get diddly squat, and instead of worrying about the economy, we have a bunch of kids in a sandbox trying to get control of their piece of the pie, with no consideration for the plight of canadian workers.

If you're talking about the Big Picture, I suggest viewing the Crash Course at http://www.chrismartenson.com/crashcourse. As a so-called democracy, Canada isn't the only country that's been losing its way. The little guy has little influence in the Big Picture. This is why I've been recommending we all learn (re-learn?) how to fend for ourselves, starting with home veggie gardens ...

More Big Picture stuff, and a suggestion that defenses may be local ...
After the peak: Task force urges city to prepare for the decline of fossil fuel production now
http://www.sfbg.com/entry.php?entry_id=9252&catid=4&volume_id=452&issue_id=453&volume_num=44&issue_num=01
"Many actions recommended by the task force focus on developing local sustainability. For example, disaster planning needs to cover peak oil phenomena. If delivery of food is delayed or reduced due to fuel shortage, food prices could soar, creating a great need for local options, particularly for low-income families. So the report recommends maximizing the amount of time San Francisco can sustain itself locally."
We can't wait for the Big Guys to come to any Big Agreements, or even to come to our rescue, IMHO.
